盧奇,古月,孫飛虎生靈涂炭的八年抗戰終于結束，而國共兩黨之間的解放戰爭也正式拉開序幕。蔣介石（孫飛虎 飾）調動大軍從延安向西北掃蕩，大有將異己徹底剿滅之勢頭。毛澤東（古月 飾）、周恩來等中央領導向北撤退，期間更與陜北失去聯系，革命面臨著最危急的時刻。在此緊要關頭，劉鄧大軍決定冒險渡河，砍斷蔣軍的啞鈴把子。然而一千里路的黃河自然環境極其兇險惡劣，此外沿途早有國軍重兵把守，尤其是六十六師宋瑞珂掛帥的魯西南兵團，是劉伯承（傅學誠 飾）、鄧小平（盧奇 飾）挺近的重大阻礙。狹路相逢勇者勝，反攻前夕，決定中國歷史的魯西南戰役正式打響……
