But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present. Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

張孝全,林依晨,金士杰,丁寧,陳季霞,馬志翔,蔡亙晏,孟克柔影片改編自林秀赫同名短篇小說(shuō)。講述諭明與依庭相遇于大學(xué)圖書(shū)館里的深度安靜區(qū)，兩人相愛(ài)并走入婚姻，正期待迎接第一個(gè)孩子。然而，依庭的意外自殺讓諭明陷入混亂與痛苦。他想起依庭在懷孕后變得異常，甚至提出離婚。自責(zé)的諭明照顧起依庭的家人，透過(guò)深入了解她的家庭后，開(kāi)始理解她的行徑，以及她無(wú)法面對(duì)自己父親的原因，真相卻讓人難以接受。
