　　1940年9月，德、意、日三國成立同盟。山本五十六被任命為日本聯合艦隊總司令，并不得不“違背自己的意愿”，接受命令對美、英、荷等國開戰。1941后12月8日零時，山本五十六親自下達了“1280”密碼命令，并親自率領部隊偷襲美國珍珠港，從而對美軍太平洋艦隊造成重創，大勝而歸。隨后山本五十六建議與美國講和，但意見未被采納。在指揮中途島戰役時，由于戰略上的重大失誤，日本海軍遭受慘重損失。形勢陡然逆轉，美軍攻勢如虹，日軍兵敗如山倒。瓜達康納島上有三萬多名日本陸軍，他們遭到了美軍飛機的晝夜轟炸，陷于絕境。山本五十六派出艦隊炮擊美軍基地，協助尚存的陸軍安全撤退。1943年4月18日，山本五十六為了鼓動前線部隊的士氣，乘坐一架轟炸機到前線視察。沒想到日軍的密碼被美軍竊取，美軍派出空軍機隊將山本五十六的座機擊落，一代軍人山本五十六就此碎尸于太平洋上空。

　　In a small rural community local police officers Zoe and Patrick begin their shift as normal but it soon becomes clear that something is wrong.
