The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

其那日圖,耿曉璐,李進(jìn)江,管宗祥,馬力,東濤,謝淑惠,韓廷琦,劉魁,張家福公安人員朝魯和助手劉小克奉命到內(nèi)蒙古草原的諾敏塔拉牧場，重新審理發(fā)生在一年前的3萬元現(xiàn)金失盜案。當(dāng)時重點懷疑對象李莉已經(jīng)精神失常，而另一個懷疑對象陳明清也突然在太原旅館服毒身亡。朝魯與牧場保衛(wèi)科長白云等人急赴太原現(xiàn)場，于現(xiàn)場發(fā)現(xiàn)有另一人的行跡。據(jù)旅館服務(wù)員講，陳明清被害的當(dāng)天晚上曾有人來電話找他。朝魯分析，打電話的人很可能就是出現(xiàn)在現(xiàn)場并投毒的另一人。在朝魯?shù)热藖淼浆F(xiàn)場調(diào)查的過程中，始終有一個形跡可疑的怪老頭，時時探聽破案的情況。究竟是誰在那天晚上去了太原旅館？又是誰打的電話？圍繞這個問題，朝魯暗中調(diào)查了牧場幾個人后，發(fā)現(xiàn)疑點集中在林菁菁身上。而這個林菁菁又正是他插隊時的女友林志紅。朝魯抑制住了個人的情感，四處調(diào)查林在那天晚上的行蹤，結(jié)果證明林當(dāng)時正坐在由北京開往哈爾濱的列車上，排除了林出現(xiàn)在太原旅館現(xiàn)場的可能。朝魯感到寬慰的同時，又為線索中斷所困惑。正在此時，有人反映牧場里曾被勞改過的伊德爾在這期間曾幾次出現(xiàn)在太原旅館附近街頭，經(jīng)調(diào)查證明現(xiàn)場的痕跡正是此人留下的，此人又與被害者的妻子于冬梅過從甚密。朝魯反復(fù)做于的工作，終于摸到伊德爾的行蹤，他正要尋找伊，卻在一個漆黑的夜晚意外地被人暗中擊暈在太原街頭。白云及時趕到，將朝魯送入醫(yī)院。當(dāng)于冬梅交待伊德爾的住處后，伊卻被怪老頭拉走，消失得無影無蹤。朝魯出院后又對于冬梅做了大量工作，并從她那兒了解到分伊并不是兇手，陳曾在被害的那天下午，在太原一家餐館與一女人共餐。這使朝魯又重新想起了林菁菁。為什么她要留下幾張能證明她在從北京到哈爾濱列車上的照片？朝魯又重新沿著林出走的線路調(diào)查，終于找到了證明林就是兇手的第五張照片。這時伊的失蹤引起白云的不安。一日，他突然收到怪老頭的信，信中聲稱伊德爾在他手中，可以付重金交換。白云終于上當(dāng)，露出原形，原來他正是這一盜竊案的主謀。他先后利誘威脅占有了林菁菁，并借林的手殺了陳明清。見事已敗露，他決定取出贓物外逃，萬萬沒想到怪老頭步步緊跟，在他挖取贓物時及時趕到。原來這怪老頭就是太原公安局暗中協(xié)助破案的老偵察員。公安人員將白云、林菁菁抓獲歸案。朝魯目送林菁菁被押上警車，陷入深思之中。
