The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

王麗云,傅藝偉,郝鐵男,吳莉婕,張利平,朱琛,董炳舜,張永強,湯志江,宋永坤,趙芬某部救護長紀嫻和軍醫林瑛接到電報去江城,在列車上,她們回憶起戰時的情景……前方已經打響了,可"三八"女子救護隊卻被師后勤部程副部長派出的崗哨關在山溝里不準進入戰區進行救護,這可急壞了女兵們。副軍長的女兒潘凡凡敢想敢做,出了一條妙計,她領著女兵們脫掉外衣,裝作去洗澡,嚇得小哨兵背過臉去,她們趁機沖過崗哨,這樣,她們截回來一卡車傷員。女兵們的求戰熱情感動了程副部長,師首長的批評也使他改變了怕出事的思想,終于批準了女兵們的要求,并親自為她們送行。女子戰地救護隊向前沿進發了。林瑛這時也沉湎在回憶之中。她的父親是大學教授,出于門第觀念極力反對她與解放軍排長許杰相愛,她違心地和許杰分手了。這次在前沿她意外地遇到了許杰,聽到他充滿柔情地給戰士們讀女友的情書,她為許杰的幸福心中感到一絲寬慰。當許杰帶領全排沖鋒時受傷犧牲后,林瑛在他的口袋中翻到了那封未婚妻了來信,原來是一封絕交信,而許杰剛才念給戰友們的,是為了鼓舞大家士氣而編出來的話語。火車到達江城,紀嫻和林瑛按照地址來到一幢新居,等待她們的原來是戰友潘凡凡。她要戰友們來參加她的婚禮。那么新郎是誰呢?她們都猜想新郎是那次"搶"回來的傷員羅小丹,凡凡卻說出來另一個她們沒想到的人。凡凡提起讓人難忘的928洼地,在戰地臨時包扎所附近,紀嫻正領著輕傷員們阻擊敵人,包扎所里,手術正在緊張地進行著,血肉模糊、生命垂危的羅小丹被抬下來急需搶救,這時何亞男已身負重傷,她咬緊牙關為羅小丹包扎,手術完成,羅小丹脫離了危險,何亞男卻因失血過多,無聲無息地倒下了再也沒有醒過來。潘凡凡為她的英雄行為所感動,覺得自己過去不該那樣對待她。凡凡想說服羅小丹,自己去和亞男的丈夫及母親組織家庭,父親潘副軍長及母親說服不了任性的女兒,凡凡硬是發出一封封電報,真的要一廂情愿她嫁到何家去,還是紀嫻幾個姐妹把她勸住了,凡凡冷靜了下來并取得了羅小丹的諒解。救護員田花要走向新的崗位,林瑛也準備攻讀大學課程。紀嫻看到戰友們紛紛走向新的生活,心中充滿了無限欣尉。
