The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.

翟俊杰,鄭在石,唐國強(qiáng),王姬,穆寧,黃凱,李放,張風(fēng)一,武鵬,周虹,陳繼銘,潘路興,董驥,王麗媛,陳耀全,嚴(yán)誠,沙唯,王春萍華江鋼鐵公司原是一家地處川滇交界的國家鋼鐵骨干企業(yè)，曾在1960年代創(chuàng)造了生產(chǎn)上的奇跡，但走到1979年已舉步維艱，許多職工一心調(diào)走。危難之時，總經(jīng)理田耕（翟俊杰）許諾不久的將來會讓華鋼舊貌換新顏。隨后，他與黨委書記肖沛成（黃凱）及做了他大半輩子堅(jiān)實(shí)后盾的總經(jīng)濟(jì)師仲天文（鄭在石）商議，向國務(wù)院遞呈了華鋼承包責(zé)任制方案，承諾會在頭年上繳5千萬利潤的基礎(chǔ)上，逐年向政府上繳遞增7%的利潤，獲批準(zhǔn)。田耕的改革大刀闊斧卻略帶專橫：得知看重的已婚年輕人藍(lán)雨濛（唐國強(qiáng)）與助理工程師馮璐（王姬）“沉溺”于兒女情長時，他不問青紅將鴛鴦棒打后任藍(lán)作副總經(jīng)理；甚至希望音樂前程一片大好的女兒嬡媛將來也回華鋼工作，但媛媛決定完成母親江靜雯（穆寧）未竟的事業(yè)——江靜雯原本也可在音樂上有很大作為，卻為了田耕將事業(yè)放棄。為了完成6年內(nèi)將利潤翻一番的目標(biāo)，田耕再向國務(wù)院遞交同國際銀團(tuán)借貸2億3千萬美元建設(shè)二期工程的方案，又獲支持。但在此問題上，因?yàn)閲H銀團(tuán)提出以華鋼的固資產(chǎn)做抵押方可貸款，仲天文與他發(fā)生激烈爭執(zhí)且堅(jiān)決不讓步，無奈之下，田耕忍痛作出外調(diào)仲天文支援寶鋼建設(shè)的決定，自己帶著藍(lán)雨濛來到北京簽署了貸款合同。而在華鋼二期工程如期開工后，他深知借貸的巨款需要留待后任藍(lán)雨濛和華鋼的全體職工去償還，并醒悟自己欠下了太多的親情、友情債。
